How to commute?

From Cebu To Tubigon

The fastest and convenient way to get to Bohol from Cebu is through a fast ferry as it offers a high-speed passenger service. The route via Tubigon is cheaper, and faster, even when going to Tagbilaran, if you take a V-hire or bus from Tubigon to Tagbilaran.

We went to the port and found ourselves queueing for MV Starcraft tickets bound to Tubigon. Here are the fares in Philippine Peso:

Economy = 200.00

Tourist class = 220.00

Business class = 280.00

Note: No ID, no ticket.

Travel time from Cebu port to Tubigon is approximately 2 hours.

Due to the increase of fuel, oils, spare parts and other lubricants, MC Star Crafts rates increased effective December 21, 2016. Fares are subject to change without prior notice. So it is advisable to always check it directly from the shipping company website or contact numbers.

From Tubigon To Tagbilaran Island City Mall

From Tubigon Public Market, you can reach Tagbilaran City in an hour and few minutes by hitching a van for 90 pesos (less than $2) if you ride from the terminal. There are times, drivers will offer only PHP 50 ($1) per ride during lean hours. Ask the driver to drop you off at Island City Mall (ICM). Buses are also an available option. We didn't try it so we don't know how much the fare is but it's more likely of the same range as the van.

From Tagbilaran to Panglao

In front of the Island City mall, find the jeepney type open-mini-bus routing to Tawala. Fare to Alona, Panglao from ICM is PHP 25 per pax. Travel time is approximately 1 hour. The last trip from ICM is at 5 PM. Afterward, these vehicles are only available til 9 PM at Bohol Museum.

Want a cheap place to stay?

Domos Native Guest House is the cheapest we found which is only 3 minutes walk from the beach. It offers a budget-friendly accommodation. Last year (2016), their fan room rate was at PHP 600 per night good for 2 persons in a double bed (shared toilet and bath).

  • Inclusions: Fan, Mosquito net, Towels, Wardrobe/Closet, Garden view, Outdoor dining area, Entire unit located on ground floor, Clothes rack

However, they registered to since October 2016, so their current online rate is PHP 900 per night, still the cheapest among accommodations near the beach.
